My mind has been on fire since our time together yesterday (btw, I apologize
for gobbling up your whole afternoon, I had no idea how late it was). I want
to thank you for setting my mind into motion thinking about dissertation
research, topic focus, and career options. I talked James' ear off when he got
home.
I actually signed up yesterday for a graduate seminar in American Studies with
Bianet Castellanos (do you know anything about her?) on Transnationalism. I'm
not certain I'm going to take it yet (I would take it in place of an
independent study on the body with Tim), but I'm definitely thinking more about
how digital forms of writing have been taken up by immigrant populations in the
US (If interested see link below for more info). I'm not so hot on the word
"immigrant" but feel I need to learn more about the history of "transnational"
before I start using it as a word.

I met Clifford Lee (Asian man in the video) last year at the National Writing
Project Conference in NYC. He is leading this initiative with the work he does
with his students in Oakland, CA. I'd love to start/work with a similar project
here in Mpls/St. Paul ... oh my illusions of grandeur ?!?
